Finding The Right Surgeon

We recommend that you see a qualified plastic surgeon for your procedure. It is important that you choose a surgeon you not only feel comfortable with but also whose training and qualifications you can trust. Dr Timothy Cooper has undertaken extensive training in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He is currently a member of The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, and is also a member of ASAPS, ISAPS and ASPRS. By ensuring your surgeon is an ASPS member you can be sure you have selected a surgeon who:

  • Has completed at least 6 years of surgical training with a minimum of 4 years in plastic surgery. Their training can be ongoing for up to 10 – 15years.
  • Has training and experience in all plastic surgery procedures, including breast, body, face and reconstructive surgery.
  • Operates only in accredited medical facilities
  • Adheres to a strict code of ethics
  • Fulfils continuing medical education requirements, including standards and innovation in patient safety.
  • Is board certified in plastic surgery by the Royal Australian College of Surgeons

About The Surgeon


Dr Cooper commenced training in General Surgery in 1986 and in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1989. He subsequently undertook training at Cork University Hospital in Ireland,the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania,and the Davies Medical Centre in San Francisco.

Dr Cooper completed his training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Sydney in 1996, at theP rince of Wales and Sydney Children's Hospitals.

Dr Cooper has had extensive training in all aspects of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery including time spent with a number of prominent cosmetic surgeons in London, Pittsburgh, Dallas, New York, San Francisco and Sydney.

Hewas awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in England in 1994, and the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in1996. Dr Cooper has been in private practice since 1997 and is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and a corresponding member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.

He is the former Head of Department and currently Supervisor of Postgraduate Training at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth, and is a Senior Lecturer with The University of Western Australia Medical School. He operates at Hollywood Hospital, Nedlands, St John of God Hospital, Geraldton, and Bethesda Hospital,Claremont.
