Risks & Complications Of Breast Reduction Surgery
Although complications of Breast Reduction are uncommon, it is important that you are aware of the possibility. The following is a list of possible complications associated with breast reduction surgery. Dr Cooper will discuss this with you in more detail at the time of your consultation
- Wound infection
- Bleeding from the wound
- Delayed healing of the skin and breast tissue, with possibility of wound breakdown or loss of tissue
- Hematoma (pooling of clotted blood)
- Irregularities in position of nipple and areola
- Keloid (raised, thick scar)
- Altered sensation of nipple and areola
- Permanent numbness
- Skin Irregularities
Asymmetry
Small differences in shape and size of the breasts are not uncommon following breast reduction.
Nipple Sensation
